I don't know why God chooses to take the best of us first. Before Adeva was a Correctional Officer, she used to work security at Humber, and everyone who worked with her knew her to be the bravest and most reliable person on the team. Any problems which would arise, she had them handled by the time we got there to back her up. Any difficult individuals to deal with, Adeva spoke to them with honesty and compassion, calming them down without anyone else having to say a word. And above all else, in a workplace full of volatile and clashing personalities, Adeva was one of the few who had sense and was a font of maturity and wisdom. She was wise beyond her years, and you could rely on her for anything. To this day, I'll often find myself remembering how Adeva dealt with something and then apply the lessons I learned from watching her. She was taken from us far too soon. The times she saved me from a bad situation, all the lessons she taught me. I'll never forget. You were the best of us. Rest in Peace, Adeva. -Yasef

Devs I can hardly find the words to express the sadness in my heart after hearing this tragic news. This is simply unfair and my heart mourns and breaks for your family. From the very first day of college when you chose to sit beside me, I knew I had found a special friend. We made so many jokes that day which turned into incredible memories together. Those late-night study sessions, our laughter at parties, and me cheering you on at your basketball games. Your bubbly energy lit up every room, and your infectious laughter always brought a smile to my face and all your college friends. I am so happy we made it four years together and got to walk across that stage— symbolizing us being one step closer to our dreams! As I step into my new role working with the HWDC I will always be thinking of you and our career conversations we had the first week we met. I will miss you dearly, but I know your smile and laughter will remain in my heart forever. Thank you for being such a beautiful part of my life and making my college years beyond memorable. I pray that God sends his angels to your family during this time. I pray that his peace and strength will be with them every day moving forward.
