Black Gem
To some she was an onyx, obsidian, diamond, a pearl
Like the obelisk in Axum she stood tall
Always supportive she encouraged the best virtues in everyone
She was a pure light the brightest I’ve seen
Another daughter of Zion the Saints called her home.
Well my friend I will see you for sure, since I too must use the exit door.
Layota Kahlee Chante Schoburgh a genuine Black Gem

Latoya and I worked together in the same classroom for 10 years. She went from being my co-worker, to being a friend, to a confidante and was like a daughter at times. Latoya was a wonderful mother, a strong, devout, and caring woman. There are so many lives she touched in a positive way. She will remain in my heart, memory and prayers. My condolences to her family and friends.

I met Latoya in September 2008 when I was assigned to work at a Safe and Caring Schools Assessment and Support program at Richview, Etobicoke. Latoya was very welcoming to me, a newcomer. She was fun. She was compassionate. She was kind. She had a burning passion to help disenfranchised kids. And, she demonstrated a strong faith in God. Latoya, I feel blessed and honored to have met you. I am sad you are no longer with us but happy you are in Heaven after your earthly labor is done. I miss you, beautiful angel. I'm sure Eternity is brighter with your radiant spirit.

Latoya I am so grateful for all the wonderful memories and laughs that we shared. Thank you for being such a caring sister and friend to me. You were always there to encourage me, and lead me in the right path . I appreciate the fundamental role that you played in my son's life, you were so influential to him. You always encouraged him and was there to advise. He loved hanging out on overnights and weekends at aunty Latoya’s house. You were lots of fun!! He always admired the gentleness in your tone and calmness in your voice, even when you were not pleased with his behavior. Latoya you always had a pleasant countenance on your face. You were always filled with so much optimism and positivity. Thank you for being you. Latoya my friend, despite how difficult and painful this is, I know that I need to accept that you are no longer with us, but you will never be forgotten. I hope that the life that you lived will continue to be an example to others. R.I.P my dear friend.❤️

I miss you Toya
My mind knows that you are in a better place where there is no pain and you are at peace. I understand that, I just wish I could explain it to my heart. There is an empty space in it that nothing will ever fill. I grieve, but I know my tears are for me. We will be together again. Until then, my love will always be with you.
Love always Monie Love
