Everyday my dog and I would walk together with Eric on his bike ,talking about The bakery and the hood ,ha ha Eric said I had the ugly dog on the street but when my husband died he was there ,for me ,God bless your children he told me how much he loved ,and he was loved for 22 years we have been neighbors and they don't make them like that any more ,I will miss you on your bike and so will miss needy God take you and keep you close ,I hope they have bikes in Heaven

I have known Eric for the past 35 years, ever since I moved to Whitmore. Eric was a wonderful man. He was always smiling, and he would always be saying hello to us on the street, and other neighbors. Eric always helped people, including us, without expecting anything in return. His generosity and kindness will be sorely missed. A very unique man with humble traits that this world severely lacks. My family has known Eric for a very long time, and even my kids grew up with him. He was the grandfather of our street, and he will be sorely missed. We love you Eric, may you rest in peace. Our Deepest Sympathy to the family. Joe, Maria, Danny, and Joshua

I would have never thought that I would be seating here writing about my friend Eric. But the time has come, my friend is gone. My name is Roland and I have known this gentleman for over 45 years. My parents and I have been neighbours on Whitmore for all this time. Memories go back a long time, to when I was a young man going to school, Eric would always say to me “ stay in school, that’s the only way to get a good job”. Boy was he so right! Eric was always there for me when I was growing up, when I got married, when I had kids and when my parents passed away. My children have also had the opportunity to get to know Eric and they too have so many, good memories of him and are still shocked. Eric was always happy even when he was sad, he would always have a smile on his face, always ready to help. Rain or snow wouldn’t stop him from being outside. Yesterday, I looked down Whitmore and I can still hear him calling me from far away, but now he is gone and my eyes tear up. He was our security guard, who needs home alarms, Eric would know any stranger that would walk down the street and that stranger wouldn’t dare to break in a house. One thing that comes to mind was that he loved dogs, especially “Peanut” Peanut was a small dog which I had for 16yrs and he would always bark at Eric but after that they were best friends, Eric was always happy to see Peanut and would always ask me where Peanut was I would say up there in the clouds, he couldn’t believe Peanut had passed away. Well, I can go on and on but the time now has come to say Good Bye. Adios Amigos…..may you forever rest in peace. As my son says he was a legend, a one of a kind!!!!! Thank you for being a part of my life . My condolences to all the family and friends, Roland

Sending our deep condolences to all friends and family of Eric. My wife and I moved into the neighborhood a year ago. Eric made us feel so welcome. He would always wave to us and stop to chat. He was such a warm person who always brightened our day. We will miss him. -Jared & Ayla

Eric and I lived side-by-side for 18 yrs. He was more than my neighbor he was a dear friend. He was always a source of joy, having him next door was a huge comfort. He referred to me as his 'little sis'. I miss him terribly, and the 'hood' will miss 'the Mayor of Whitmore'!

It is still unbelievable that Eric, my long time friend and neighbour is gone from our lives and this street. Eric was the spirit of Whitmore Avenue and the larger neighbourhood. His smiles, words and presence made this neighbourhood a little more alive, a little more human in face of the impersonal ways of a big city. Eric brought life to a neighbourhood where most are anonymous. His warmth and caring towards neighbours and especially the various dogs, whom he always spoke to and knew by name, went a long away to changing the remote coldness of the street. I will miss him. He lives long in my heart and memory as the warmhearted person whose presence remains on these streets. My deepest condolences to his family.
