Obituary of Edward Alexander Burnett

Edward Alexander Burnett, lovingly known as Eddie. He was born January 8, 1955 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. After 10 years, Eddie moved with his family to England, United Kingdom. He lived with his parents, along with his Aunt Flora in London, UK. My Dad loved cars, music, soccer, and even played the guitar in his early years.

His first child, Simon Alexander Burnett was born during 1979 in Birmingham, UK. During 1981, his daughter, Rochelle Alexis Burnett was born in London, UK. Then, Eddie married Christine Drummond during Jun 1982 in Birmingham, UK. He worked at luxury automaker, Rolls-Royce in the UK to support his young family. Shortly after his wedding, he moved to Toronto, Ontario in Canada alone to work in the same year. Christine and Simon moved to Canada to join him in Nov 1982. Next, Eddie and Christine had their second son, named Nicholas Emmanuel Burnett during 1985 in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. After just 5 years in Canada, they bought their first home together in 1987 at small home in Brampton on Hillbank Trail. The young family bought their 2nd home in Orangeville during 1989. My family stayed that town for 7 years before moving to Mississauga and Brampton in 1996. Dad sometimes worked 2 jobs to provide for his family and save for the future.

Throughout most of his life, Eddie worked in the automotive industry with jobs as mechanic, auto parts salesperson, and even opened his own auto parts sales business, called Hillbank Auto Parts. Thousands of people across the Toronto area, knew Eddie as the auto parts expert from auto dealerships, mechanics, along with auto parts and paint suppliers. He enjoyed visiting friends, including meals at restaurants, Backyard BBQs, picnics, fishing, along with watching Soccer, Tennis, Golf, Space Rocket trips, and F1 Car Racing at home.

Edward lived most of his life in Brampton, Ontario. He moved on July 1, 2021 to North York to be close to his oldest child, Simon and his family. Eddie loved visiting his son's home to see Simon's wife, Lisia their friend, Samanta, but most importantly to have special time with his granddaughters, Aliya, Anaya, and Hannah Burnett. It was amazing to see him smiling and laughing with them. After several years of sickness, he passed away suddenly at home in North York, Ontario on September 14, 2024, at the age of 69 years old with his girlfriend, Stacy at his side. Edward was a devoted son, father, grandfather, cousin, uncle, and friend. Eddie was known his big smile, loud, joyful laugh, generosity, and resting his hands on your shoulders to calm you down  He will be deeply missed and greatly remembered. Your prayers, encouraging words, and support for our family are always welcome.

Edward is survived by his brothers, Dalton and Osbourne, his sisters, Emma and Marcia, along with his Aunt Flora and Aunt Elsie, his children, Simon, Rochelle, and Nicholas, daughter in law Lisia Malcolm-Burnett, his granddaughters Aliya, Anaya, and Hannah, his nephews, Nigel, Nathan and Marcus, his Nieces, Sabrina, Erica, Sarah, and Latoya, countless more Nieces, Nephews and Cousins across the world from Canada USA, the UK, and Jamaica, his Godchildren, including Tahani, as well as Kade Ann, many friends, co-workers, and neighbours.

The Burnett family invites you to share your loving, positive, funny memories and with Eddie, as well as blessings and condolences. May God bless you very much. Thank you for your support during this season.

Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.Psalms 37:5-6 NLT
