In loving memory of my friend Ena. She wasn’t just a friend to me, she was like family. She hailed from Coleyville where I recalled she was impeccably dressed going to Holmwood. After her awesome sister Carol and I graduated from Knox, Ena and I reunited when I relocated to Kingston and resided with my Aunt, Ena’s friend. Again, we reunited in Canada. I could tell God was not through working on her life when at a Sunday evening Church Service at Vaughan Road she sang, “When I woke up this morning the sky seemed mighty gray, but I feel better now since I prayed.” Our last in-person meeting was memorable when we co-hosted this same Aunt’s birthday celebration in Kitchener, Ontario. I want to share my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ena who will still be experiencing pain and disbelief. In the face of profound loss, I take courage that we’ll reunite again. She just changed location, moving from one place to another.

EP and I met at Holmwood in 1969 and after graduation we lived in Kingston together .
After she migrated to Canada we lost contact until a few years ago when my husband ran into her smallest sister in Florida. Since then we’ve hold each close to our hearts, making plans to reunite again. In April I realize the communication was getting lesser and lesser I kept asking her if she was ok when she said she had a stomach issue dealing with, only to get a text from one of our batch mate this week saying she passed. I was devastated knowing all our plans will never materialize and there is no hope that there is no hope of seeing her again in this life.
May her soul rest in peace

Met Ena in the early seventies while she worked for the Fire Department in Kingston
She was a sample very well dressed and her hair done in the same fashion you see on her recent pic
Ena was the life of the party she lit the room up and she laughed like no other
She had a way giving jokes and the way she spoke at times would make you rip with laughter
We were on the verge of reconnecting her and had planned to meet real soon but fate had other plans
Deepest condolences for her fam and may her soul rest peacefully and perpetual light shine eternal

I will always remember cousin Ena's kindness, hospitality towards my mom, myself and the rest of my family. Her bright and infectious laugh always lit up the room . Our family gathering will never be the same without her and she will forever be missed. Each time I feel the sadness of her passing, i just think of the great memories I shared with her. It's really hard but I Just keep tellimg myself this is the circle of life.

Ena Joyce Bonnick (Peart)……A tribute from a brother-in-law and family.
One of my curiosities at this juncture in anyone’s earthly existence is to find the meaning of their name and so with our dear Ena it is no different. With modern technology it did not take me long to find out the meaning of her beautiful names that will be forever etched in our memories:
Ena - Ena is a girl's name of Irish origin. This name stems from the Irish Gaelic name Eithne, which is sometimes Anglicized as Enya, meaning "kernal" or "grain." For a more vibrant touch, Ena can also come from the Irish moniker Aodhnait, meaning “ardent” and “little fire”.
Joyce - Lord; Joyous. If you're looking for a name that inspires joy, then look no further than Joyce.
So here is the making of a wonderful sister who we affectionately call EP, who shaped her existence as being a selfless giver, also honing her homemaking skills from an early age. Once I relayed Ena’s passing to her alum, I heard stories of her feeding friends at school and just doing so much for her friends and community children when she herself had very little, back in the cool hills of Dump, Manchester where she grew up, attending school at Bryce All-Age and Holmwood Technical High Schools. Ena was mother to three birth sons but mother to many including my dear wife who will miss her immensely and her other siblings in some way shape or form. So what stood out,….Ena’s bold laughter, her poems and wishes, she was elaborate in saying Happy Birthday and so we will miss these shout outs from her. She possessed an awesomely loving, kind and fun personality, even when things were hard, she kept life in perspective and always encouraged others with good and Godly intent.
From, her sister Doreen (Angela), nieces Camila and Rochelle and her grandnieces Amani, Aja and Amina and me, we hope this snippet of the wonderful person EP was here on earth, from someone outside of her immediate family but who experienced her genuine love, sense of care and compassion, act as continued reflection point for all of us.
May the body and soul of our dearest Joyce Ena Peart-Bonnick, the Godly, Joyous Grain and Ardent, “Little Fire” continue to rest in eternal peace, as we reset our lives to live, love and laugh as intentionally selfless and humble as she did.
