Obituary of Basil Barnett Blair
Basil passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 in Toronto, at the age of 75. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mackenzie, a little town in Guyana now known as Linden, nurtured a number of great families including the Blair family. Barnett, the sixth child, lived a full and exciting life; he was an athlete, a teacher, an industrial worker and a band leader.
Migrating to Toronto in the seventies, he worked in industry, did painting, and owned the band Brass Trazxx. The band was popular, playing at many gigs around the province. Debra Cox, now famous, started her stellar musical career singing in his band.
Barnett moved to the US for some years and then resettled in Canada. He continued to live a quiet life in Toronto, unseen by many, and passed away quietly leaving a spouse, a son and daughter.
He was the most known and popular member of the family. He will be sincerely missed and remembered by the many people whose lives he touched.
Rest well our departed brother.
