My thoughts go out to Robbie’s Mother, Sister, Children and Family.
Robbie, we were apart geographically but close in heart and shared many memories together. I first met Robbie at Belmont Boys RC School, when I moved from England to Trinidad – I was seven-year-old. I was being picked on by a group of boys because I was new and from England. Robbie jumped in and said “he from up by wee boi, leave him alone and warn dem! That was the start of our brotherhood.
As teenagers we formed the greatest small goal team in Serraneau Road called The Ninjas – the teams was as follows: Robbie, Sandfly, English, Stone and me Papa White. The elders had to buy us white lily milk and the odd nutriment to come off the pitch because they couldn’t beat us! The team could have gone anywhere in Trinidad and beat people. We had everything, character, aggression, flair, flair and more flair!
Can’t believe we won’t chat on WhatsApp or facetime anymore!

Wow! My sincere condolences to the family. I met Rob at the gym (Fit for less) and your right 5am he is there(lol)we nuts!! However the last I saw him was about 6 weeks ago and he hailed me after I hadn't seen him since covid. His inspiring words of encouragement lifted me, as I had 2 hip replacements during the pandemic. I will never forget his smile and upbeat persona. Rob soar high!!!You loved and are love!

When we spoke on Sat April 20th, never did I know it would be our final conversation.

Tony Nichols, my condolences goes to Robert Durham family and friends as Robbie treated his friends as family. I first saw Robbie playing football for his school he was the smallest and best player on the pitch also strong for his size. I played against him once and decided to mark him by jumping in front and getting the ball in front him. Robbie said to play it long and my game ended there as I am 20yrs older than and he was swift. After the game, Robbie hugged me and said Uncle ah cyan let you embarrass me. Robbie played for my team Napoli U17yrs, with English, Pappa White, Ross Russell, Stone, Walkes, Jerry Jack, we beat Russell Latapy De Napoli team 3-2 in Petite Valley, ROBBIE stole the show as usual. RIP

When something tells you to call someone...just do it. I've heard that many times before, yet I delayed on doing just that and now I'm so sorry. Robbie was a very good footballer..I'll never forget the first match I played against him at George V Park in Trinidad, years ago. I think it was IMA vs his side....early in the game..the man picked up a ball before me ..I was in defense or midfield...before I cld step-up the man did a reverse bicycle kick and the ball was in the back of the net before anyone could react, including the keeper...we cldnt believe it..I thought that only happen on TV...
After that I had to close mark him..he was wily on the ball and enjoyed the game...he never got vexed when tackled hard...or a little rough play..he just smiled...Also enjoyed playing on his side as well along with Sean and many of his school friends...
Robbie was a true friend and a genuine person never hesitating to help anyone whenever asked or even before being asked...not many like him..we will surely miss him.
May he rest in peace.

The absolute best. Kind, sincere and PURE. My memory of you will always be holistic as you were whole to me. Knew how to be PRESENT for me no matter how busy life was; always - always slowed down to check in… you thought me the importance if this.

When I had my surgery you were so worried but reminded me that God is in control. Reminded me “work don’t die” “take time for myself” and I will…. I Will.

Till I see you again…… I miss and will miss you dearly but I am Thankful to God for you… for a Gem. It’s a blessing to have known you and to know you; is to absolutely LOVE YOU.

My fondest memories of Uncle Robbie would be nothing short of hilarious. He always knew how to make me bellow with laughter to the point my stomach would hurt lol. My favorite joke/old tale that he used to storytell in the most hilarious way was about the guy who couldn’t eat out of his mouth anymore and was chewing gum by the bus stop. Let’s just say, if you know, you know lol. He was not only funny but he was very caring, compassionate, and loving to say the least. A memory that I hold close to my heart of Uncle Rob was when I was 11 years old & fractured my foot during summer camp and I couldn’t walk at all. My foot was so swollen and inflamed, I was in so much pain but Uncle picked me up and carried me all the way to the car. I remember him stacking like 5 pillows high in the air to elevate my foot until my mom came. I’m truly thankful for him til this very day. He will be greatly missed but will forever remain in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. Sending love to my cousin, Taipha and the entire Durham family. Remember: “Death cannot kill what never dies.” Uncle Robbie will live on forever.
