My thoughts and love go out to Miss Rose's children - my nieces and nephew - their families and friends.
I first met her in Toronto in the mid 1990s, visiting for the first time. She always called me Auntie Chris, even though I wasn't her auntie- but I loved her smile and stories of when she was in York with my big brother, Mitchie. I was so looking forward to seeing the family again in the summer, but circumstances prevented me from travelling at that time.
My thoughts and prayers and love are with you all there in Toronto. Rest assured, mom is resting in a better place.
Love to you all.
Auntie Chris Dixon xxx

My sister Hyacinth, was a second mother to me from as far back as I can remember. She stood up for me, fought for me, and even took the belt for me. You see, she thought of me as her baby sister, and she protected me like no other.
I missed her terribly when I moved to England without her. I felt inept, Years went by and she finally got the opportunity to go to England for a visit. She met Bert’s & Sis. Joyce’s children for the first time! Oh what a joy!!! It was the first time in many years that all the siblings got together (Joyce, our late Sister Dorothy, Hyacinth, Bert & me). One of our nieces, Donna Thompson, whom she met for the first time on that visit also passed. I’ll always remember that visit and so much more that’s indelibly written in my memory.
Sadly, you suffered, but for a time. I’m sure you’re singing with the Heavenly Choir! (Oh, how I remember your beautiful angelic voice)
I pray that our children and the entire family & friends will be comforted by the Holy Spirit.
Sleep well my sweet sister, sleep well!
Sorry about the picture quality.

Miss Chenny, you have earned your wings and it was your time to fly. I will remember you for all the love that you have shown to Mincy and I since we were kids. I remember my sister Mincy spending many days at a time in your house. Your home was a place of refuge for her whenever she got in trouble a home. Mincy would always run away to your place, and you never turned her away. Miss Chenny, you were one of the mothers of York District, not just to your own children, but to all the children of the community.
I also embraced you as my second mother and it was always a pleasure to be in your company. Just like the other angels, it was time for you to get your wings. This is not goodbye, this is farewell until we all meet again, say hello to my father for me. I am sure you and him will be reunited for eternity. Sleep on Miss Rose, sleep and take your rest, we love you well but Jah love you best, you are gone but I will never forget you.

Hyacinth Rose. Miss Chenny was one of the most loving.caring and peaceful women living in York. My mother Olga Powell told us that back in the earlier years Miss Chenny put a roof over her head and would ensure they are ok. My siblings and I grew up knowing Miss Chenny as our big cousin. We always loved and respected Miss Chenny. Gone but not forgotten. May her Soul rest in peace. Condolences from Lornette and the entire Powell family.
