Obituary of Myrtle Blanche Lewis

Myrtle Blanche Lewis, age 102, born in St. Catherine, Jamaica; passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023 surrounded by her loving daughter Sharon, her granddaughters, Georgia, Shea, Shawana, and Allison in Toronto, Canada.

Myrtle was born on July 25, 1920 to Mr. Maxi Thomas and Mrs. Isadora Thomas. She grew up in St. Catherine, Jamaica, considered Toronto her home but felt strongly connected to her roots in Jamaica. She is survived by her daughters Yvonne and Sharon. She was predeceased by her husband Septimius Lewis, her four sons Alfred, Trevor, Carl, and Denroy, also her three daughters Dorrell, Valerie and Winsome. She had grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Myrtle was never scared to take on new challenges or opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. She had very strong religious values and was well liked by everyone in her community, mostly due to her positive energy. Myrtle had incredible patience, and always made time to help others. Myrtle loved to cook and sing. She cared for her husband, children, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She touched many lives.

Her legacy will carry on forever, reminding us that we control our attitudes and destiny.

There are no words that can adequately express how grateful, blessed and appreciative we are to the family members and staff members of Fieldstone Commons Care Community for the care they provided to Myrtle Blanche Lewis over the years. She will be greatly missed.
