Derrick and I met when he moved next door to me and ever since we met he has been a great neighbour to me and family. Derrick was a wonderful and kind hearted person and a great person to conversate with. Derrick will always be in our memories. May God be with the family in this time of grief.

I always think of him at Easter bcuz he was the person who would buy my Easter bun for me from Allan’s in Scarborough. I’m currently in what I believe the guilty phase of grief. I’ve shed so many tears in the past weeks; I am numb and mentally exhausted. I lay in bed at night thinking of my dad and how each day I feel is getting to be too normal and routine.
Questions for my Dad:
Are you okay? Were you really ready to leave? I have to force myself to believe that if you let go, then you must have been ready, but I just don’t know for sure.
All I know for sure is you are not here.

Words cannot express how I’m feeling right now with my oldest brother gone from this life. I’m glad we had the chance to laugh and chat the night before you were taken from us. There’s a void inside of me that misses you and it hurts knowing I won’t be able to have conversations with you anymore where you’ll be responding, so I’ll continue to call your phone just to hear your voice for as long as that phone line stays on. It is hard to fathom the sadness felt at the death of my cousin Derrick. It was recently we had a celebration together. He was really quiet and soft-spoken.
