With the deepest heart felt sadness I am say goodbye to you. You were the one person I could talk to and depend on in the early years of my live. You were the first person I would think of talking whether it was something good or bad. You were my protector when predators tried to attack every though you really couldn’t fight, you stood at my side.
I remember you telling me you had my back when I told you I was pregnant with Shanice and you were. Every night you would bring my won ton or hot and sour soup with bq duck cause I don’t eat all day. Every summer you took her to send time with you and her cousins. They were her siblings.
You expanded our taste of foods by introducing us with your culinary skills and restaurant choices.
You always showed up when I needed you.
I sorry the last few years things were so difficult between us but I hope hear me each time I told you I love you. It came from my heart. You will always be my protector and the person who influenced my life.
I am missing you already

Nijol was always the fun, cool brother. He was the brother that would take you out for an adventure, get into trouble and then keep it a secret. He had a big heart, he was always willing to give and didn't think anything was too much.
He had his ways, just like anybody else but he loved as deeply as anyone could. At times his life may have seemed like a rollercoaster but somehow the ride had a lot of fun in it. I'll always remember him showing up for important things in my life and being a support. He was kind and thoughtful and I will forever be grateful for that. I truly hope that he was able to find peace. Rest well brother.

Nigel was always someone that we didn’t need to speak with each other for a long period of time but when we did meet it’s like time never passed between us. A tight hug marked the continuation of our relationship and conversations left off from the last time we met. We will squirrel away in a quiet corner to simply ask how we were doing, how my family and I are adjusting to our life here in Canada and what new thing he was up to. The one thing that our conversation would land on was how much his family meant to him and how they were all so dear to his heart. Nijol was always fun loving and lived life on his terms right up to the end. I will miss those conversations, your face, your presence. You fought a good fight, but God saw it fit to start you early on your next leg of your journey where you will be at peace. Until we meet again, stay close to the family that have already gone ahead, and I am sure you will tell them to continue to watch over us, your family, as we navigate life on this side.

It is with a profound sense of sadness that the Forbes and Martin clan must convey their deepest condolences to the Benjamin family regarding their loss. May God continue to grant you all peace during this time of bereavement. Cherish the memories made with this "life of the party". Nijol was more than a friend. He was family to us as well. Rest in Peace Nijol. You will be missed. This is hard

To the Benjamin family , I am so sorry for your loss, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family.
I didn't know Nijol that well but Nadine over the years you spoke about him so highly, and how free spirited he was.Death is not welcoming at no time in our, but it is something that we have to embrace in an odd way. Just keep him in your hearts and keep his memories alive.
RIP Nijol

In the beginning many years ago I remember hanging out with my big cousin. He would call me telling me he is in town and passing to check me to hang out but it was not only about hanging out. We spoke about everything and anything and from those conversations I noticed how intelligent as well as passionate he was about family, the importance of family as well as looking out for each other. We all have our issues with ourselves and others but what he kept to his heart was family. Big cousin was loving, helpful, if you were down he would build you up, caring and a wonderful personality all together. Couz I love you and will miss you and I will never forget our discussion. May God keep you and most of all rest in peace
