Obituary of Mr. Colin Henry & Mrs. Veronica Dekid-Henry
In Loving Memory of
Veronica Hyacinth Dekid-Henry
1955 - 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic death of Veronica Hyacinth Dekid-Henry (Hopey) on September 21, 2022.
She was the loving daughter of Ena Madge Smith and Albert Arthur Dekid. The beloved wife of Colin Fitzgerald Henry for 29 years and the loving mother of Alpha and Daniel Henry.
The cherished sister of her siblings, treasured cousin and adoring aunt to many nieces and nephews all around the world.
Born in Portland, Jamaica on January 13, 1955 — Hopey dedicated her life to family, church community, and students.
Hopey immigrated to Canada in 1993, where she got married and started a new life.
She graduated from Humber College in 2000 and worked for 20 years as an Early Childhood Educator.
Hopey was recently enjoying a life of retirement, including travelling to Jamaica, gardening, and volunteering at the Kingsview Village Seventh-day Adventist Church Foodbank.
Despite the former, Hopey would want to be remembered as a servant of the Most High God.
She will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever.
