Obituary of David Patrick Miles

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of David Patrick Miles, in Toronto at Baycrest Hospital on Friday, March 25th, 2022.  He is affectionately known as Xpert, Dave, Daddy D, Dad and Papa.

He was born to Theophilous Miles and Beatrice (Forrest) Miles on September 27, 1941 in Amity Hall, St. James, Jamaica.

David was a Licensed Mechanic who learned his trade in Jamaica and England.  He emigrated to Canada in 1971, working at Toyota Canada (Weitz Motors), Chaterways and OK Express becoming an expert at fixing cars, trucks and buses.  In 1981 he started his own business and named it “Xpert Auto Repairs”.   An industrial accident at his business in 1994, forced him into early retirement and he spent his last 25 plus years living his “best life” as a Jamaican-Canadian snowbird in Jamaica.  

He was predeceased by his wife Merle nee. Madden (2020), his daughter Denise (2002), his nephew Mark (1992), his brother Errol (2019) and his son-in-law Bobby (2022).  

He is survived by his ever supportive daughter Karen and a son David (Jason), his 3 dedicated grandchildren Omar (Makesha) Tashani, Cachet (Tremayne) and his 4 amazing great-grandchildren Nehemiah, Mya, Ayla and Ariana.  Also left to mourn are his treasured siblings Inelin (Lyn)-Toronto, Leslie-Jamaica, Denzil and his wife Joyce-Atlanta, Mary (Sue)-Jamaica, Colin (Jimmy) and his wife Josie-Toronto and his much loved sister-in-law Mavis (May)-Toronto along with his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
