Obituary of Ruth Philomena McKenzie

On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, our dear mother passed away peacefully in Brampton.  Loving mother and grandmother, beloved sister and aunt.  Ruth will be forever remembered by her family in Canada, the United States, and England.

Ruth Philomena McKenzie was a phenomenal woman of God.  The epitome of a true lady with class and dignity.  Ruth was well known as the lead singer for the dynamic group, The Gospel Flames.  Her high soprano voice would light up the room setting it on fire along with the other members of the group, many were to the Lord.  At a young age, Ruth began reading music.   She then used this talent to teach others how to sight read music by singing each note.  She was a choir director, a seamstress, a counselor.  Her accolades were too many to count, but her main role of wife, and mother stands out above all.  Ruth was the beloved wife of Alvin McKenzie for 44 years until his passing in 2005.  Ruth leaves behind her three children, Casmin McKenzie-Ottay (Michael Ottay), Claudette McKenzie -Johnson (Calvin Johnson), and Leroy McKenzie (Kerry Osborne).  9 grandchildren, Nathan, Britnie-Rae, Blaine-Omarae, Sheldon, Javon, Keleon, Marcus, Brandon, and Nerayah, and 4 great grandchildren. 

Ruth's legacy of love, strength, determination and leadership will forever be memorialized in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Capacity limits have been removed for indoor and outdoor funeral services, including visitations.

Restrictions that will remain in place are:

1. Masks and/or face coverings are required. 
2. Physical distancing of 2 metres (6 ft.) between people.
3. COVID signage will be present at the entrance and around the facility so that guests can self-assess.
4. Contact tracing will continue.

Important Note:  Cemetery can restrict capacity limits as they deem necessary.  They are permitted to be stricter with numbers and we must comply.
